100 glorious days of snail mail
If you're friends with me on Facebook, then you've probably become quiet familiar with the girls' and I's Snail Mail Project. For those of you that aren't privy to what this is, basically I wanted to start something with the girls to show them that the best and simplest way to enrich your life is by acts of kindness towards others. Obviously they're a bit young to understand it just yet, but why shouldn't I also reap the benefits of making my day by making your day?!
Every other week, we've been sending cards with quotes, stickers, the recipients favorite candy, inspiring images and flower seeds via the illustrious snail mail to friends and acquaintances that have expressed interest. They send me their address, and answer these five questions:
1. What's your favorite color?
2. What's your favorite candy?
3. Who's your favorite author?
4. What's your favorite flower?
5. What's your least favorite day of the week?
Originally, the plan was to send each recipients mail so it would arrive on their least favorite day of the week. The work involved in figuring out this information was a bit beyond my level of motivation, and I decided that people would be happy to get mail, regardless the day it came.
I'm here today telling you this because I would really love to send you mail! Who here gets tired of boring billing statements and those massive coupon booklets that I usually let the girls play with so I can eat lunch uninterrupted? We want to make your day, if it's not too much to ask. Acts of kindness should not be reserved for friends and family, it should be shared equally with everyone. If you want to get on the Snail Mail train, send your address and answer the questions I've listed above to Jlboicourt@gmail.com. We'll get you on our officially unofficial mailing list, and you get a happy random surprise!
We'll also begin documenting our little project for 100 days as part of the #100Dayproject, and if you receive mail from us, it would be great if you could share what you've received on Instagram with #100DaysOfSnailMail. It kicks off April 6th, so it's coming up! That is not a requirement, just fun for me to see who got what and know that they liked it :-)
