We can work it out
While in the throws of my disappointment in my post baby bod and my total lack of motivation to actually do anything about it, something hit me. I may not be a gym rat or a home workout junky, but I do "work out". Since the girls are both walking now, I'm constantly moving. Seriously, until you've stopped a rather large mirror from being pulled down on a babies head at speeds that would make the Flash do a double take, you have no room to say otherwise. Or stopping one of your babies from biting her sibling on the nose/head/arm....or stopping one from growing behind your back and knocking that coffee cup she couldn't reach yesterday onto the carpet and her sweet little face.
I'm seriously impressed with my new skills sometimes. Do you remember when you were pregnant, and all your senses had been heightened to the point where it was uncomfortable? It's like that, but now I can control them and use my "powers" for fighting evil(I'm still working on the seeing through walls thing). I guess that's that omnipresent phenomenon that occurs when a woman becomes a mother. We know what you're doing and where you are! We just know.
So to all those mamas that feel bad they can't make it to the gym or find time (or energy) for a 30 minute DVD, don't. You'll be up and moving soon enough. I have daily dance parties with my kiddos, mostly because we enjoy it. But it's a great workout to wiggle and jump around with an extra 20lbs, or 40lbs, tacked onto your hip(s). We go for at least one walk a day, and if anyone knows me, you know I walk like I'm on a mission! Sprinkle in shopping trips and excursions out into the world, and we're moving lots!
